Saturday night in Brooklyn, Chores hosted an intimate launch party celebrating the release of their first collection and short story, The Boy and The River. Born from multi-disciplinary collaboration, it reflects on the intentionality of slow, sustainable fashion. Rooted in the delicacies of storytelling, the pieces in their collection focus on highlighting natural tones and organic movement that are echoed in the short story and manifested through mediums of silver, paper, clay and wool. Each piece is introduced as a new character in the story, where textile artist Joy, ceramicist Anna, and jewelry designer Nicki created by visually interpreting and extracting from the text. The displays emphasized the intentionality of every step in the collections’ creation, with a process table full of brainstorming memorabilia, a mini galley documenting behind-the-scenes moments, and details of paper origami boats as tags. The party was a warm embrace from the Chores’ team to their community and a reminder of the inspiration that arises from their lived connections.
