09/27/16 – Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA.
After two great warm up bands, KIEV and Bear Hands, Foals took the stage with an energy that I’ve only encountered in a few bands prior. Playing through big hits off of all of their albums including older hits like “Olympic Airwaves” and “My Number” as well as their newer hits like “Mountain At My Gates” and “What Went Down”. Singer and front-man, Yannis Philippakis put everything he had into belting out the lyrics to the crowd, and even crowd-surfed a couple times. Other band members consisting of guitarist Jimmy Smith, drummer Jack Bevan, bassist Walter Gervers, and keyboardist Edwin Congreave gave stellar performances as well, holding down a huge sound that worked perfectly in driving home other amazing songs like “Providence” and “Inhaler”.
