05/08/2017 – The Roxy, West Hollywood, CA.

I got the chance to take a quick trip back to 1970 while attending Mod Sun‘s ‘Drive In Movie’ tour.  It was the final night of their spring tour across the country and the packed crowed surrounding the stage of The Roxy was buzzing with fans anxious to see what Mod Sun had in store for the evening. I can speak for everyone in that room when I say he did not disappoint. The Drive In Movie tour is nothing but energy and emotion from the moment the music begins. Each of Mod’s songs played effortlessly together into a stunning performance telling the tales of self-love, heart break, friendship, work ethic, and finding happiness in the world and oneself. The positive vibes were radiating and every time Mod threw up his classic two fingered peace sign, the crowd echoed it right back. He welcomed his “hippies” to what he called “one of the greatest nights of his life” and many times throughout the show he could only stop and stare in awe at the room full of smiling faces looking up at him. Each song drastically different from the prior all tied together into the movie of Mod Sun’s life story. Moody lighting and bright graphics added the perfect touch of groovy 70’s vibe and the couch center stage that doubled as the back end of an old classic car set the tone for a wild evening complete with special guests G-Eazy and Gnash. I can’t imagine Mod Sun without the ear to ear grin that never dropped from his face and I truly love that he preached positivity and self love from start to finish with his show. If you need some music that is nothing but good vibes, Mod Sun is definitely your guy!
