Eudon Choi, Autumn/Winter 2018 PORTH LA collection was inspired by St. Ives, a Cornish harbour town in England. The rich and vibrant hues of red, yellow, navy, brown and grey with softer shades of pink and white complement well and played homage to the many artists like Christopher Wood, Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Alfred Wallis that called St. Ives their home. It was them that turned St. Ives to be the centre of modern art. His PORTH LA collection showcases deconstructed shirts and trousers, waterproof sou’wester, vinyl coats, chunky and patterned knitwear and scarfs paired with bags designed by Decke and jewellery by Alighieri. While maintaining his speciality of traditional and modern design techniques and craftsmanship, the use of varied textures and fabrications throughout the collection reminisces the commercial fishing trade and seafaring that used to be the heart of Cornish livelihood.
It was a privilege for me to photograph the backstage of Emilia Wickstead Autumn/Winter 2018 inspired by the 1970 film, Love Story. Having done a PR and celebrity styling internship back in the Summer of 2017, it felt right to head back and photograph her latest collection. Her AW18 collection showcases the label’s classy and modern silhouettes of jumpsuits, high waisted trousers and jeans, high-neck knitwear and tailored waistline dresses with the use of luxurious fabrics like wool, leather, tweed and tartan. Overall, the collection portrayed a relaxed seventies and eighties look that can be dressed up for a fancy cocktail party or down for a more casual date night. Well done, Emilia and her team!
