Up-and-coming artist, Jaira Burns chatted with Local Wolves about her recent tour, being a part of the Beats/Balmain ad and much more to come for this incredible artist from Pittsburgh. Check out her newly released single, “OKOKOK” now!

Hi Jaira! Thanks for taking the time to chat with LW! Do you mind telling us a little bit about yourself?

JAIRA BURNS  It’s my pleasure! My name is Jaira Burns. I am a 21-year-old artist and musician that is signed to Interscope Records and Upscale Music Group. I get to live out my dreams everyday.

You’re just about to end your cross country tour in the next couple of days. How does it feel knowing what you’ve accomplished?

JB  Going on tour in general was such a blessing for me. It was such a life changing experience so it was definitely bittersweet to have it come to an end. I am more than happy with how it turned out. I can’t wait for a world tour!

Are you sad that it’s coming to an end or are you ready to take a break? Or feelings of possibly both?

JB  I definitely feel more sad now that the tour has come to an end but I am also very excited to get home to my fur babies!

Your single “Ugly” was used as the musical backdrop for the Beats/ Balmain ad… two incredibly large companies! What was your reaction to finding out that your own song was specifically handpicked for something that was gonna be featured on such large platforms?

JB — When I first found out that Balmain and Beats wanted to use my song I don’t think my brain registered it properly. I was kind of just frozen in disbelief, even after it went live. It was such a last minute and quick decision. I didn’t really have time to process it but after about three days of it being out, it hit me. I was freaking out for sure!

You’ve definitely cultivated your own voice and taken on a new spin with blurring genres within your music. To someone who’s never heard your music, how would you describe your own personal style?

JB — To anyone who hasn’t heard my music, the genre I create is Dark Urban Gypsy Pop!

The start of the new year has already proven to be incredibly successful for you! What’s on your agenda for the rest of 2018?

JB — Well thank you! 2018 is going to be such an eventful year for me and my team. We have so much new music coming, festivals, shows, merch, music videos, and a lot more. Stay tuned!
