4/8/2017 + 4/9/2017 – The Observatory, Santa Ana, CA.

A punk lovers dream came true this spring when The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA came together to produce, When We Were Young 2017; a festival filled with nostalgia. With it’s arrival of classic bands such as AFI and The Descendents, and newer groups like Joyce Manor, whose sounds are surely attributable to these classic acts, a mix of new and old was perfectly balanced. From Plague Vendor’s upbeat and lively show, to Homeshake’s smooth and melodic set just before sunset– there was something for everyone. After a long day in the sun, everyone gathered together in anticipation to see the man himself, Morrissey. He entered the stage and opened with one of the most adored Smith’s songs of all time, “There is a Light That Never Goes Out.” The weekend was filled with bodies trying to inch closer and closer to the stages just to get a better glance at their favorite artists, feet enclosed in slip on Vans dancing throughout the crowds’, and people singing along to every single word they knew. If you didn’t walk into the festival feeling forever young, you definitely walked out that way.
