Bang & Olufsen in New York, NY — October 2, 2025

On a chilly Thursday night in October at the midtown Manhattan location of Bang and Olufsen, Norwegian artist Fig Tape performed a short set of his music including songs from his upcoming album. The event, hosted by The Unstable Company, provided light bites from Maketo Sushi and drinks from brands such as BRĒZ. The store transformed into a cozy and intimate setting for people to connect with friends and creatives.

During his performance, Fig Tape told the crowd that it was his first time in the United States and his first time performing in the US. He’s recently been in LA, Las Vegas for a songwriting bootcamp and planned on going upstate to film visuals. Fig Tape’s debut album, Forcefed Serenity, comes out on October 24th. On Instagram, the artist described the project as “an album about the contradictions of being alive right now. It’s a search for calm in a world that keeps telling you what calm should look like.” The singles released so far from Forcefed Serenity weave through different sounds, steering from unique synths to indie rock with heavy bass and drums back to electronic again.

Even through a stripped down and short set, one could feel the uniqueness of Fig Tape’s sound and the diversity of genres. He said that when he woke up on Thursday morning, he felt nervous to perform but later said that once he was in the intimate room with friends, family and other creatives, he felt comfortable and more confident. Fig Tape’s one of a kind sound and intriguing lyrics and the event’s welcoming atmosphere made the event feel that calmness that the upcoming album is searching for.
