Central Park in Atlanta, GA — June 11, 2023

The Re:SET concert series is an experience like no other. A three-day traveling concert with some of the biggest names in music today, this project truly has artists every music lover wants to see. Instead of a weekend long music festival, Re:SET has condensed the experience into a single day of related artists. Sunday’s lineup included sets from Bartees Strange, Dijon, Clairo, and boygenius, with fans camping outside the venue the night before the show to secure good spots in the crowd for their favorite artists. Unfortunately, storms were forecasted in the area and the Re:SET management had to make a tough call to move the set and door times of the show up around two hours.

Bartees Strange opened the show with three of his songs— “Hennesy,” “Mustang” and “Boomer”— raising the spirits of the crowd and kicking off the day. Unfortunately, he was only able to play three songs due to the shift in set times, but Bartees made it great regardless.

Dijon came to the stage for his set and the crowd became full of excitement to be a part of his concert experience. His set, composed mainly of songs from his hit album Absolutely, brought listeners through a versatile and dynamic lens of love and heartache. Accompanied by an incredible band, Dijon’s set reminded the audience of a brainstorm studio setting as he sat center stage and played with a sound mixing set to bring the mastery of Absolutely to life. Finishing with “Rodeo Clown,” the crowd was in tears—or close to it— as the set came to a powerful end.

After a set change, indie pop hit Clairo came onstage and immediately went into her first song of the set, “Bambi” and the audience was lulled by her poise and sweet, soothing voice. Clairo’s set was comprised of mostly songs from her sophomore album Sling, with her closing piece being one of her most popular: Bags. Clairo and her band’s talents blended perfectly, drawing her crowd in closer with each beautiful symphony.

Boygenius delivered the performance of a lifetime, making the evacuation and storms well worth the show. Beginning with “Without You Without Them” from backstage, it became clear that the band has true fans in Atlanta; the crowd was singing along to every word of every song and expressing their excitement to see the trio every chance they got. Boygenius’ set included songs from both their first and second records, and a range of different genres and instruments— there was truly something for everyone. Many fans had amazing and intricate handmade outfits relating to album art, lyrics, and other pop culture references pertaining to the band. Boygenius closed their set with “Ketchum, ID” off their first record, and left the stage for about a minute before rejoining the audience for a three song encore consisting of songs from each of the band’s members’ solo projects. The band members were incredibly thankful for the crowd waiting in the rain and showed it at all chances they had. After the encore, the day finally drew to a close and fans headed home with smiles on their faces and water in their shoes.
