It’s only March, but prepare to meet the soundtrack to your summer. Straight out of Southern California, Allah-Las is on tour with their third album Calico Review, which oozes a vintage LA sound that will get you in the mood for skating on the boardwalk and busting out your Polaroid camera.

Allah-Las, a four-piece band composed of Matthew Correia (vocals, drums), Pedrum Siadatian (vocals/lead guitar), Miles Michaud (vocals/rhythm guitar) and Spencer Dunham (vocals/bass), formed in 2008 after they met while working at the legendary record store Amoeba Music on Sunset Blvd. “Working at a place like Amoeba allowed us to explore all these different genres on a daily basis,” explains Correia. “It broadened our respect for so many kinds of music.” He says that being in LA exposed him and the band to countless local acts that indubitably influenced them; however, he doesn’t like “to put a name on” their sound.

The band released their first, self titled album in 2012, which features their most well known song “Catamaran.” Worship the Sun came out two years later, followed by the critically acclaimed Calico Review, which offers up a change in their indie rock sound. On the new album, Correia says, “We’re always learning and trying new things because that’s the fun of [music].” Allah-Las experimented with violin, harpsichord and Mellotron for Calico Review.

The band is back on the road again, finishing up a North American tour at Coachella at the end of April. “It’s our second time playing Coachella,” says the drummer who loves the desert atmosphere. “Last time, I ran into Paul McCartney so that was pretty cool!”  Following Coachella, Allah-Las will be heading to Australia to play some sold out shows. The band is working on new music and hoping to spend some time in Los Angeles and New York this summer.
