Show Recap: Yerin Baek - Local Wolves

Music

Debuting in her first US tour, South Korean artist, Yerin Baek stopped in Fort Worth, TX on December 1, 2022. Listening to her diverse discography online, loosely described as a mixture of Korean R&B and dream pop, I was more than eager to see Yerin perform. For the first half of the setlist, Yerin performed acoustic versions of “Loner” and “Loveless”, accompanied by her bandmates of The Volunteers. Even with it being her first time in the states on tour, Yerin exceeded everyone’s expectations with her vocal range and stage presence. Leading up to the end of the set, the energy of the crowd picked up as “0415” and “Bubbles&Mushrooms” echoed throughout the intimate music hall. Prefacing the encore, Yerin gave her grievances towards the crowd by asking them to choose their favorite songs that she wasn’t able to play and performed short acapella renditions of “Why Me?” And “A Walk Closing” out the night, Yerin finished with “Square (2017)” with the crowd happily singing along to one of her most popular songs. With this tour only three shows in, please do yourself a favor and go to a Yerin Baek show.
