03/29/2016 – Echoplex, Los Angeles, CA.
Always great to be back in Los Angeles, as I see a continuous line of fans waiting outside for a sold out show at the Echoplex. The opener, Your Friend got the crowd moving and it was awesome to see the music community continuing to grow in this side of town. It was a beyond fun night for the co-headliners, Porches and Alex G and even Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) sang during Porches set. I know, I had a surreal moment there too. In all realness, Porches performed such an exclusive set including tracks from Pool, like “Underwater,” “Be Apart,” “Hours” and many others. Porches grabbed the attention from the crowd during their last track, it was a tradition to sit on the floor as they ended their set. It was a relaxing moment to have all the iPhones, Snapchat stories and cameras put away and see Porches perform as the lightning of different colors begin to flicker to the stage and back away. As Porches’ set ended, the set was cleared up for indie-pop artist, Alex Giannascoli who goes under Alex G. He performed several of lo-fi tracks from his recent records and the crowd was completely engaged during the performance as Alex dances and captures the attention of his fans for the night. The co-headling show had a creative lineup in which I would highly recommend you to see them live. To make it even more special, for Alex G’s upcoming shows, the setlist changes for every tour date so invite your friends for a good time.
