Omar Apollo’s set at The Fillmore Charlotte on November 19, 2022 was one of many stops along his headlining tour, the Prototype Tour with opening act, Ravyn Lenae. Fans who had been camping out for hours and hours had quickly gotten their spots in the crowd, some hugging the barricade, glad to have waited to be front row for this spectacular show.

Ravyn Lenae first came onstage to a roar of applause and her smooth and silky voice echoed through The Fillmore throughout her set, enticing the whole crowd- even those who were unfamiliar with her music were dancing along. Her song “Sticky” ended her set, and fans buzzed with excitement for Omar to come onstage. Fans even cheered for staff at The Fillmore just setting up his equipment.

Omar’s set was a dynamic mix of songs from his entire discography, but mainly focusing on his most recent album, Ivory (Marifil). While interacting with his fans throughout the show, it was easy to tell that Omar loves to perform and loves his fans. His more fast paced songs, such as “Talk” and “Tamagotchi” had the crowd dancing and jumping along, while his slower and deeper songs such as “Killing me” and “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All), gave space for the fans to sing along with a profound understanding of what the lyrics meant to them. He ended his set with his encore of “Go Away”, and left fans with full hearts and excitement for what this Grammy nominated artist’s future holds.
