Perspectives submission by photographer, Kaya Warshawsky: “‘Beat the Summer Heat‘ is a fashion editorial that follows a woman as she resorts to desperate measures to beat the summer heat in the city. She tries to stay glamorous and fashion forward while dealing with this heat. Despite these attempts, the side effects of the blazing sun are apparent on her. This editorial is a humorous and satirical glimpse of summers in NYC. With steamy subways, humid weather, lack of tree shade, and limited access to pools and beaches, NYC summers are difficult to navigate. When creating this work, I was inspired by my experience living in NYC and viewing the effects of climate change creating unexpected and drastic weather. We have to get creative in order to endure this weather.”
