Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, NY — April 22, 2025

“KIDS TO THE FRONT!” The stage burst with life as The Linda Lindas filled the Brooklyn Steel with eclectic punk. Playing from their recently released album No Obligation just last October, the second album they’ve put out since their 2022 album Growing Up, it was clear that the band was defining themselves as unapologetically free of what is societally accepted of young girls and femmes.

Originating from Los Angeles, The Linda Lindas rose to fame around 2019 as a half-Asian, half-Latinx band consisting of sisters, cousins, and friends: Mila, Eloise, Lucia, and Bela. With a strong message about uplifting unity, the band harbors a wide range of audiences– from elementary school fans to older punk fans. Having started performing at such a young age, and performing on themes about navigating the world as youth, they sprinkled the performance with messages emphasizing and prioritizing their younger fans.

For many young fans, it was their first performance: an excitingly new full-body experience filled with action, engaging visuals, and call-back chanting. Multi-talented, each new song featured one of the four members taking the lead. Each with their own unique sound, the venue echoed nostalgic references with lyrics about big feelings and realizations, the trials and tribulations of evolving into young adulthood, and homage to their latin heritage with songs in Spanish. Nearing the end of their North America leg, the band left their New York audience energized with an uplifting, revolutionary spirit.
