James Blake performed an evening under the Los Angeles summer sky on Friday, June 12th and delivered us with melodic masterpieces and soulful production on his “Trying Times” tour. There was not a single moment where I looked into the crowd and there was a still body; fans could not help but feel compelled to move, reminisce, and connect with Blake. Entering with “Walk Out Music” from his newest album, Trying Times, he went on to deliver beautiful heartbreak, poignant realization, and about what it means to be in a meaningful relationship with the person you are in love with. He also presented us timeless classics such as “You’re Too Precious” and familiar favorites like “Godspeed” by Frank Ocean, which he produced. Promoting crowd participation for title track, “Trying Times” and encore ending with “Say What You Will” it was a night rich in love and community.
